My name is Maynard. I've been here even longer than Al & Karla. I was living here when they bought the farm 20 years ago!

   When I was much younger I was a very good race horse...I was even claimed for $20,000 over 25 years ago, which was quite a bit of money back then!

   Now I am semi-retired. I like people to think I'm tough so I make faces, pin my ears and pretend to bite them. I get a big kick out of it if they act like they're afraid! 

   I'm really not mean at all...I have a heart like a big marshmallow. Being a thin-skinned Thoroughbred I get cranky if I get groomed too roughly or if people use a brush that is too hard and stiff. Then I pin my ears and lift up my leg and let people know to be more gentle!

   That's why they never liked to use me for anyone's first lesson...they are afraid I'll scare someone off. I think that's pretty funny.

   The truth is that a 5 year old could lead me down the driveway and ride me because I'm actually very gentle.

   The only time I act a little wild is when it's windy, I get a bit excited in the wind. Oh yes...I do like to be admired and I really like treats! Since I'm 32 years old this year I think I deserve them, don't you?
